What is a Dental Implant ?

A dental implant is an artificial substitute / replacement for the root portion of your natural tooth and is anchored into your jaw-bone to support a crown, bridge or secure a denture firmly in place. Dental Implants are made from titanium, a material that is well tolerated by bone and integrates easily with bone tissue.

Dental Implant Budapest: 1. Treatment Plan

Before any dental implants are placed it is important for your dentist to assess the health of your teeth and gums, if there are any signs of gum disease or decay these must be treated first. After this, your treatment is planned following several x-rays and a CT scan to assess the bone quality and quantity.

Dental Implant Budapest: 2. Placement of the implant

The procedure is usually carried out under local anaesthesia. The gum where the dental implant is to be placed is cut and lifted and a small hole is drilled in the jawbone at the precise location of the intended implant. The titanium dental implant is tightly fitted into this socket and the gum is stitched back over the implant. If there is insufficient bone material to accommodate the implant a bone graft may be required or alternatively the dentist may use smaller sized mini dental implants if suitable.

Once the implant has been placed it is left to heal and integrate with the jawbone for between 6 weeks to 6 months. After the healing period the gum is lifted again and a post is attached to the implant. Four to six weeks later when the surrounding gum tissue has matured the final permanent restoration can be fitted to the dental implant.

STANDARD IMPLANTS: Typically, dental implants are done in two surgical procedures. The dentist will have to refract (peel back) the gum tissue to see just where the implants will go to avoid sensitive nerves. When the proper placement is decided, the dentist will then place the implants into the jawbone. For the first three to six months following that surgery, the implants, which are just below the surface of the gums, bond with the jawbone. While the implants are bonding with the jawbone, the dentist makes new replacement teeth. When the implants are fully bonded with the jawbone (again, a process that takes up to six months), the dentist is ready to fit the new teeth. The second procedure you undergo includes uncovering the implants and attaching the posts that act as anchors for the artificial teeth. The teeth are then attached to those posts.

How caries develops

Caries develops when the exchange of minerals (mineralization and demineralization) in the mouth is out of balance. During the uptake and metabolism of the food, acid is created in the mouth cavity, which attacks the surface of the teeth, thus extracting important minerals from the teeth (demineralization). On the other hand, minerals are provided for the teeth by the saliva and dental care (mineralization). When demineralization is stronger than mineralization, hard tooth substance begins to decay.

Ozone shower for the tooth

Treatment by the HealOzone therapy is simple and painless: after thorough cleaning of the tooth surface to be treated, the damage caused by caries is surveyed by laser. If damage is within certain limit values, then there is an opportunity for ozone treatment. The area affected by caries is then treated by ozone for about 20 seconds, using a special handheld device. The gas with powerful disinfecting effect kills 99.9 per cent of the bacteria which have caused caries ? and it works without removing any of the substance of the tooth. The next step is mineralization. Using a special fluid, essential minerals and fluorides are delivered in high concentrations to the tooth.

Maximum safety

The silicone cap sticks closely to the tooth, and creates vacuum there. This ensures that ozone may only contact the treated part of the tooth, and should not get into the air, so the patient cannot inhale it. When the vacuum is interrupted, an additional safety mechanism immediately turns the ozone generator off. When the treatment is over, the device aspirates the remaining ozone, and turns it into oxygen. What happens after treatment by HealOzone? As a result of treatment by Heal-Ozone, all harmful bacteria, which cause caries, are destructed.

At this age the development of the growing jaw bone and teeth is easier to influence by using simpler devices, usually removable, smaller, glued dental plates, and can be adequately controlled under constant control. Later on, when permanent teeth have developed, irregularity can only be restored by removing one or more teeth, and the improper relation of the lower and upper jaw bones can only be treated by a combination of surgery of the jaw bone and a dental plate.
As a matter of course, a regular layout of the teeth can be achieved for adults as well. Adult teeth can also be treated by appropriate devices, and various aesthetic tooth-coloured porcelain bracettes (which are glued onto the tooth) and dental splints with a tooth-coloured Teflon finish are available.
